God said Eve was Adam’s “ezer.” This is commonly translated as “helpmeet,” which frankly is a super lame, weak depiction of its meaning.
“Ezer” is used 22 times in the Old Testament and HALF those times it describes someone (usually God) who is delivering someone from their enemy or protecting them from their enemy.
This goes way beyond what we traditionally think of as a “helpmeet.”
This is WIFE AS WARRIOR.
I believe this indicates that fully HALF YOUR JOB as a wife is to go to war in the spirit for your husband and your marriage.
If he isn’t being the husband and man of God the Lord intends him to be, your beef is NOT with your man.
It’s with the enemy.
Stop complaining ABOUT him and start going to war FOR him.
And if ALL you can do is repeat ad infinitum “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood but against principalities, against powers, against rulers of darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places” over and and over
and over and over and over
then do that.
Eventually it will sink in that your husband is being TORMENTED BY SPIRITS and your heart will soften for him and you will feel a great urge and desire to pray FOR him rather than be bitter AT him.
I’m writing a memoir about my journey of faith through a desperately broken, and yet anointed marriage, and decided that before it's finished I want to release the prayers that I prayed that completley transformed my spirit from constant torment and anguish to total peace (and believe me, if you knew the details -- and you will if you buy the memoir -- your eyes would be wider than saucers that I can have such peace right now.)
But it's because I know that God works ALL THINGS together for good for those who love Him and are called according to His purpose (Romans 8:28)
AND that He who began a good thing is faithful to complete it (Philippians 1:6)
AND that the enemy MAY NOT touch God’s anointed (Psalm 105:15)
AND that surely the enemy may gather but not by Him and they that gather together against my marriage shall FALL for its sake (Isaiah 54:15)
AND that the Lord will build my marriage and again it shall be rebuilt (Jeremiah 31:4)
AND that He shall put His Spirit in my marriage and it shall live (Ezekiel 37:14)
AND that through faith I understand that our marriage was framed, fixed, mended, repaired, perfectly joined together and made what it ought to be by the word of God (Hebrews 11:3) (an extended riff on the meaning of "framed" in that verse. Shout out to Tiphani Montgomery for that amazing exogesis.)
These are just a few examples of the verses used in WARRIOR WIFE PRAYER BOOK, AKA marriage battle manual.
